After nine months of interviews and research, the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation, Co-Chaired by SDG Advocate Jack Ma and Melinda Gates, released a report on 9 June titled “The Age of Interdependence.” It provides guidance on how to build partnerships to address the emerging challenges of this digital era. The report breaks into five sections: 1. Inclusive Digital Economy and Society; 2. Human and Institutional Capacity; 3. Human Rights and Human Agency; 4. Trust, Security and Stability; and 5. Global Digital Cooperation.

Jeff Sachs Brings the SDGs to the Vatican

Jeffrey Sachs spoke and helped organize a meeting between Pope Francis, finance ministers for many nations, and the President of the UN General Assembly on the SDGs and the emerging crises of climate change. Hosted in the Vatican by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the discussion outlined steps the finance ministers should be taking as stewards of the world’s finances to align with climate science and the ethics of human dignity. Universal Coverage for Mental Health: Queen Mathilde at the World Health Assembly

Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians inaugurated the new World Health Organization's Special Initiative for Mental Health at the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva on 20 May. Education Above All Leaving No One Behind

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, founder of Education Above All (EAA) foundation, traveled to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to visit projects implemented by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, as part of EAA’s Educate a Child Programme. The goal: to enroll more than 450,000 refugee and displaced children in school. The programme has already provided more than 10 million out of school children in 50 countries with access to education.

The Kumasi Declaration Passes with Help of Co-Chair and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

Co-Chair of the SDG Advocates and President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo called for further engagement on the SDGs in Africa.
