Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians goes on a UNICEF-led mission to Kenya. UNICEF supported schools for displaced children in remote villages and refugee camps offered the mission an opportunity to engage local authorities on important efforts to provide quality education and health care for vulnerable peoples. Universal Coverage for Mental Health: Queen Mathilde at the World Health Assembly

Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians inaugurated the new World Health Organization's Special Initiative for Mental Health at the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva on 20 May. The goal of the initiative, nicknamed “Time to Scale Up” is ensuring universal health coverage for mental health conditions in 12 priority countries to 100 million more people.

Graça Machel and The Elders meet with Ethiopia’s State Minister of Health to learn about the country’s efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage. He spoke on the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative (WPDI) and its work teaching conflict resolution in schools and small businesses in conflict areas. “The success of our programs, he said, has taught me the value of long-term engagement.  The issue of child reintegration should not be seen as just a humanitarian gesture to help vulnerable groups of children move on. It must be seen as a sustainable and strategic investment in the reconstruction of societies.”
