On June 13, 2018, the President Nana Akufo-Addo hosted a Breakfast Meeting with Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) at the Jubilee House to deliberate on strategic partnerships and actions for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was attended by select CEOs from private sector organisations including CEOs from the oil industry, mining sector, manufacturing industry, the banking industry, consumer services and the telecommunications industry. Other participants at the event included Ministers of State and other government functionaries, thought leaders, entrepreneurs and other CEOs of state enterprises.

The overall objective of the meeting was to foster a strong partnership with the private sector towards the attainment of the SDGs in Ghana. Specifically, the meeting sought to, among others:

  • Provide a forum for reflection and dialogue on the SDGs and define collective actions for accelerating their implementation.

  • Leverage their expertise and knowledge in finding smart solutions and best practices to achieving the SDGs.

  • Maximise domestic resource mobilisation for the implementation of the SDGs.

The participants also agreed on a set of outcomes as a means to support implementation of the SDGs highlighting:

  • The need for companies to engage the SDGs not only as a corporate social responsibility but as an integral part of the organisations mission and vision.

  • CEOs must commit their organisations to the Agenda through their products and services as well as their work culture.
